Hi! I'm Erica Barron! I am a fifth-grade teacher in Papillion, Nebraska. This is my first year teaching full-time since staying home with my kids for the past 10 years. I was a substitute teacher in Papillion for the past four years and took six long-term sub jobs during that time. This time last year, I decided to come back full-time and accepted a job at my kids' school. I love being at the same school as my kids and seeing them each day!

When I decided to teach again, I realized that I needed to go back to school and take 15 credit hours to renew my teaching license. Peru State College worked with me to complete the 15 hours and helped me enroll in the master's program. Although I was nervous about taking graduate courses during my first year back, it has been wonderful!  I have learned so much from my courses and know they are making me a better teacher.  I only have one course left to take over the summer before I graduate.

I would not call myself an expert when it comes to technology.  A lot has changed in the ten years since my last teaching position!  I do think that it is extremely important to utilize technology in the classroom.  This is the reason I decided to take this course.  I am looking forward to all of the knowledge I will gain through the completion of my projects.  I am hoping to move from a 2 to a 5 on the technology integration scale!

I am looking forward to having more free time this summer!  We just bought an RV, so I'm looking forward to camping, hiking, biking, and paddle boarding with my family.

Course Reflection Flip Video a.)   My goal for this course was to learn new ways to create and implement technology in my classroom. This was accomplished through the many project-based learning experiences throughout the course. I was able to meet several ISTE goals by designing and sharing learner-driven activities with students and staff. Here are a few of the ISTE standards I was able to use: 2.1 Learner : Educators continually improve their practice by learning from and with others, and exploring proven and promising practices that leverage technology to boost student learning. 2.1.b: Participate in PLNs: Pursue professional interests by creating and actively participating in local and global learning networks. 2.2 Leader : Educators seek out opportunities for leadership to support student empowerment and success and to improve teaching and learning. 2.2.c: Model Digital Tool Use: Model for colleagues the identification, exploration, evaluation, curation and adoption...

Click on this  link  to access the formative assessment on dividing fractions that I created for my students on Classkick. This is the link that will be shared with students.  Enter any name to access the CFA that my students will see. I was unfamiliar with Classkick which is why I chose to investigate it. Classkick is a free app and web-based instructional tool that allows teachers to see their students working in real-time.  Teachers can upload an assignment and share it with all students.  The assignment can be shared with a link like I did above, or it can be sent directly to Google Classroom.  As students are working, the teacher can see every response for each page of the assignment at the same time.  See the image below for the teacher's view of a sample assignment.  The teacher can give immediate feedback to students as they work.  It is also possible to allow students to give feedback to their peers if needed.  I think this is a...
